You will discover the vins d'Auxerre which are ideal for washing down local delicacies. Explore the region on foot, by bike, on horseback, by car or canal.
You could rock climb, visit the chateaux, fortresses, medieval towns and villages, romanesque monasteries and wine producing areas. |
Stroll down a grassy alleyway from La Maison en Pierre and you come to the the River Yonne and the beautiful old lavoir where the women of Magny, many years ago, used to do their weekly wash. There you'll also discover the property's "secret" garden, exclusively for the use of those staying at the house.
Row to the nearest village, Châtel-Censoir, or cross to the other side of the river where you can moor and relax, swim and enjoy the beach. |

Visit the local towns and sights :- Rocher-Saussois, to rock climb, the Grottes d'Arcy, sensational underground caves and a wander along the banks of the fast flowing River Cure.
The Caves de Bailly (where they make Crémant de Bourgogne). The vineyards of Coulanges-la-Vineuse, Irancy or Vezelay. Avallon - a very beautiful mediaeval fortified town with a stunning views.
Then there is Vezelay, one of the most stunning sights in Burgundy. Dijon, Beaune, Sémur-en-Auxois: longer journeys but equally rewarding days out.
You can even drive to Geneva (and on down to the Italian lakes) in a reasonably short time.
